Overview

Replacing spreadsheets and bare HTML with something that actually works.

Coca-Cola's commercial teams were forecasting across dozens of global markets with no shared source of truth. The ask was to replace a patchwork of spreadsheets and an aging widget with a unified platform built around how their teams actually think and work.

Project Overview

Topline Forecasting System — full dashboard view

Forecast Insights, trend analysis, and VPM charts — unified in a single scrollable view.

The Challenge

Learning the domain without slowing down the work.

The Problem

Bottlers and operating units across distributed markets had no shared source of truth — just spreadsheets and an underperforming widget that had never been designed for the scale of their operations.

The Approach

We started by picking apart the existing widget — cataloguing pain points and workarounds. That gave us something real to anchor on before moving into wireframes.

My Role

End-to-end, across the whole engagement.

I started alongside Design Director Charles Uyenco, then became the sole designer from R3 onwards — owning everything from wireframes and prototypes to client presentations, design requirements, and QA with engineering.

Volume Baseline — hierarchical data grid

The Adjustment Table

A hierarchical table letting forecasters drill from global totals down to country, partner, and category — with comparison rows showing variance against Business Plan, Prior Forecast, Baseline, and Actuals.

Reception

Noticed at the
steering level.

The platform rolled out across all of Coca-Cola's global operating units. What started as one engagement became five extensions, each adding new markets and capabilities, making this one of Umbrage's longest-running client relationships.

Product Manager

I just wrapped up a demo for Japan and Korea. One of our steering committee members and senior directors for that OU said the following:

"TFS looks so good, and it's such great progress from the original tool that I can only imagine the level of work that has gone into making it this great, specially how much feedback has been considered."

This just goes to show how much our dedication, creativity and effort is getting noticed.

Also just to add on to this. It is a huge accomplishment to make incredibly complex software feel user friendly. You guys have accomplished this.

I'm blown away every time I see a demo in production with how fast, easy to use, and intuitive everything is. Huge testament to the entire team.
